JOIN JAYCE OGREN FOR HIS FIRST CONCERTS AS
ORCHESTRA 2001’S NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR!

Orchestra 2001’s season opening program, “Body Music,” features music inspired by movement. Dance, athleticism and physical sensation moved these acclaimed American composers to write music that grooves, howls, sings and seduces. The highlight will be the Philadelphia premiere of Sebastian Currier’s masterpiece for 15 players and electronics, Bodymusic, which uses virtuosic instrumental playing, audio samples from the internet, and sculpted electronic sounds to portray the sensory experiences we all share as human beings. The ensemble will also be playing some rollicking Bulgarian dance rhythms in the first movement of Derek Bermel’s Tied Shifts, vibrant colors in Joan Tower’s Petroushskates, and a brilliant fusion of funk, romanticism and minimalist drive in John Adams’ Son of Chamber Symphony.
