This event celebrates the season opening of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia’s 53th season (2017-2018 Season) titled Improvisionaries. The Chamber Orchestra, in partnership with the Clef Club of Jazz, will celebrate this landmark season with a variety of programs exploring the art of improvisation spanning the 17th through the 21st centuries, as well as the myriad of links between Jazz and Classical music. This season will finish in magnificent style with the premiere of a new work by Adam Vidiksis, COP’s Steven Gerber Composer-in-Residence, illuminating the immensely varied and colorful musical trajectory which supplied an essential framework to the birth of Jazz.
