EVENTSUA Huntsville New Music Festival The UAHuntsville Percussion Ensemble performs Drum Amalgam as part of the university's New Music Festival. This work focuses on how separate rhythms can form to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts - the "resultant rhythms" - that are formed by the various interactions of the patterns moving through each of the individual parts.
SEAMUS National Conference Adam will perform his work Mitochondrial Dreams for percussion and electronics at the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States national conference. Mitochondrial Dreams is a celebration of the marvelous complexity of life and a reckoning with mortality. View the SEAMUS conference website.
Guthman Musical Instrument Competition Adam will perform a work for the Tapbox DSP, a musical controller he designed that acts as a percussion instrument. Percussive rhythms are captured using a piezoelectric sensor, and parameters of sound are controlled by moving the instrument in space. These changes of position are measured using an accelerometer and processed using an Arduino Nano microcontroller. Digital synthesis is created using Pd.
Cybersounds NYC Adam will perform the New York premiere of Mitochondrial Dreams for percussion and electronics at the HiArt Gallery in midtown. Mitochondrial Dreams is a celebration of the marvelous complexity of life and a reckoning with mortality. This concert also features compositions by Annie Niekirk, VJ Manzo, Maurice Wright, Matthew Greenbaum, Joo Won Park, and Ryan Olivier. This performance is part of the Amphibian concert series.
